There is a garden complex about five minutes west of the castle, which is a most unusual complex. It was built in the old samurai quarters, and in the location of each of the houses there is a different kind of garden, twelve in all. The gardens did not seem to me to be the best examples of gardens, but they were some of the most interesting because of their variety. There were some standard Japanese gardens, and some unusual ones, like this countryside garden. The goal of this garden was to mimic the scenery of the countryside, only in a garden format, and I was really impressed with this scene in particular. The grasses and the shallow brook are something I can definitely see from the countryside, yet the whole garden is still very much a garden and work of art.
